After a career in music - playing drums and keyboards, writing, recording and touring
I returned to painting over 20 years ago. I studied with Laurie Rabson - who was
a great influence. I now paint in oils and watercolour and combine the various disciplines
in mixed media prints. I exhibit widely in the South East and my work hangs in private
collections worldwide.
The vocabulary we use in music and painting is remarkably similiar - colour, tone,
harmony, composition - it is all creativity and an attempt at communication. Just
as in my music my paintings are concerned with pattern and contrast, colour and light,
the rhythms that work together in a representation of the natural world - but also
the abstract expression of ideas and an exploration of the possibilities of portraying
three dimensions in two.
