After a career in music - playing drums and keyboards, writing, recording and touring I returned to painting over 20 years ago. I studied with Laurie Rabson - who was a great influence. I now paint in oils and watercolour and combine the various disciplines in mixed media prints. I exhibit widely in the South East and my work hangs in private collections worldwide.

The vocabulary we use in music and painting is remarkably similiar - colour, tone, harmony, composition - it is all creativity and an attempt at communication. Just as in my music my paintings are concerned with pattern and contrast, colour and light, the rhythms that work together in a representation of the natural world - but also the abstract expression of ideas.

I make no apologies for the wide variety of painting you will see on this site - they span a number of years and my policy is one of continual improvement. They are all by me - some very recent and some several years old but I see a common thread that unites them all - an exploration of the possibilities of portraying three dimensions in two. Hopefully no ugly paintings - can’t see the point in that - but also hopefully something beyond the merely decorative. I paint what I find interesting - I hope you find it interesting too. Thank you for visiting.
